Workers` Compensation Injury Care and Case Management

The physicians and other professional staff in the Occupational Health Services Department are specialists in treating work-related injuries and illnesses. Our comprehensive approach to work-related health care is aimed at providing the highest quality of care to the patient in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Our facility is staged and equipped to provide a full array of occupational health services. Patients can receive nearly all necessary treatment in-house, from initial visit and follow-up care to advanced specialty care. Ancillary services such as x-rays, laboratory and physical therapy services, available within the Clinic, are ordered only on the basis of clinical needs. The utilization of these in-house resources allows for timely coordination of services and, therefore, better control of the costs associated with the treatment of the patient.

The clinical staff, under the direction of the Medical Director, works together to coordinate and monitor the medical case management to facilitate the early return-to-work of an injured or ill worker. Ongoing verbal and/or written communication is provided to ensure that the employer is aware of all aspects of the patient’s care.

The Medical Director encourages and manages the appropriate use of medical facilities and services. Referrals are made only to specialists that agree to treat injuries consistent with the philosophy of the Occupational Health Services Department.

Physical Examinations

Our thirty-year commitment to occupational health has put us in the position to do thousands of occupational physical and medical surveillance exams annually. We provide a wide variety of specialized exams that will assist you in making the right hiring decision and maintaining a healthy workforce.

These services include:

  • Employee Physicals
  • DOT Physicals
  • Executive Physicals
  • Return to Work Evaluations
  • Disability Evaluations (PPI/IME)
  • Medical Surveillance Exams
  • Respiratory Fit/Haz-Mat Clearance Exam

These detailed examinations can be utilized to determine the basic fitness of the employee to perform essential tasks. They also aid in identifying high-risk employees, ultimately resulting in reduced workers’ compensation costs and improved employee performance.

Physicals can be customized to meet the employer’s specific needs and may include the following:

  • Breath Alcohol Testing
  • Drug Screening
  • Audiograms
  • Pulmonary Function Studies
  • Radiology Reports
  • Laboratory Services (Including specialty blood testing)
  • Stress/EKG Tests

An added convenience is having all services provided within one facility.

Appointments for physicals are preferred but walk-ins will be accommodated.

Substance Abuse Screening

The Hammond Clinic is a DATIA-accredited collection facility providing specimen collection, chain-of-custody, tracking and reporting of each test for both DOT and Non-DOT employees. All testing is overseen by our Medical Director, who is a certified Medical Review Officer.

We offer baseline, random and “reasonable suspicion” drug and breath alcohol testing. Drug screening can be included in any physical examination or performed separately.

Post-accident drug and alcohol screening are available 365 days a year from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

In most instances results are available within 24 hours, ensuring quick and efficient turnaround of all drug and alcohol testing. We also offer an automated drug test for non-DOT employees that provide results in less than one hour.

“Collection Only” services are available for those companies that already have a lab contracted to provide testing services.

Arrangements can also be made for our staff to provide on-site collection and testing services.
